Today, I am going to tell you about a story of proudness. The story stars are my cousin who are my elder cousin(Kor Kor), Sean Lim, my younger P4 cousin(Mei Mei), Clara Ho and mii. This story happen
One day, as I was at my grandma's house, my elder cousin or should I saw my kor,Sean, my younger cousin, Clara Ho and I were saying about our wonderful results we had for our 2007 SA2. My elder cousin was the smartest of all five cousins. He was even promised a place at one of Singapore top ten schools. Sean started to boast" I will be the best of all. It will not take me anything for me to fall." My cousin or mei mei started arguing with him," Who says that you are the best? Wanna take a Maths Olympaid test to test who is the cleverest." He agreed to it. As Clara and I were qutie good in Maths, we were not afraid of the challange.
The next week, I brought my photocopy copies of my Math Olympaid book and we were given 1h to do 10 questions. " I will win this competion" Sean said boastfully. " Lets see who will win" I gave him a look. "Your time starts NOW!!!" We looked carefully at the questions and answered with our eyes glued on the paper, all I could think was to beat that boastfull cousin of mine. When I spied at my cousins, Clara had her mind glued to the paper while Sean there day-dreaming. As Clara passed up the paper, Sean quickly passed up the paper to the respective markers, which was my other 2 cousins. " Time out" , I passed up the paper to my marker, who was the smartest of all markers, Jill Lim, but she is not the smartest of all cousins but she is not arrogant at all. Clara and her sis,Charissa was staying overnight at my house. I was real excited about that. As Charissa was marking her sis paper, we marked it overnight. Each question was 2 marks. Out of the 20 marks, Clara got a 15.5. I congratulated her. I and my two cousins had fun playing.
The week after, our results was announced, I got the highest!!! With a 17/20, I had beaten that arrogant cousin of mine. When he heard that he only got 11/20. He was tongue-tied. But suddenly, something burst out of his mouth," It cannot be, there should be something wrong with the paper or the marking... Or you two girls cheated!" We gave him a quick reply," We did not, and there is nothing wrong with the paper! It is because that you are too proud and arrogant about your results, thats why we had beaten you". Jill said" I checked the paper and there is nothing wrong with it. I agree with them. Kor, you were too arrogant." " You... little brat.." but it did not continued. Sean's mother heard the commotion and asked us what had happened. We told her everything. His mother told him it was because he was proud. He apologised to us for being so proud and boastfull about the results. We said as long as he learnt his lessons, we were fine with it. He promised that he would not be arrogant anymore. Since then, Sean(kor), Clara, Charissa, Jill(Mei) and mii(Abigail) became the best of cousins of all.
The moral of the story is that the proud will fall one day, SO DON'T BE PROUD!
